From the course: Pro Tools: Pitch Correction with Antares Auto-Tune Evo
Oct 21, 2019 VST MIDI Control Extension (MCX) is a plugin wrapper attached to the selected VST plugin that extends the plugin with MIDI controlling capabilities. The extension allows you to assign each parameter of the VST plugin to a MIDI control event (CC0 - CC127) or to a virtual control element. It works with both VST and VSTi plugins. The new features can be accessed directly from the AT-200 via the Fret Control system or from any MIDI controller, including the free Auto-Tune for Guitar layout for the MIDI Designer Pro iPad app. In order to transfer software updates and new Feature Packs, players will require a special MIDI Y-cable to connect the AT-200 to the MIDI interface. There is a planned future VST version of Autotune which will support MIDI note control. When you need help, Sweetwater has the answers! Our knowledge base contains over 28,000 expertly written tech articles that will give you answers and help you get the most out of your gear. In the Auto-Tune plug-in window, click on the 'Side Chain' drop-down menu in the upper right corner and select the audio track you created in step 2 (for example, 'Audio 1'). Click on the 'Advanced' view button and then the 'Target Notes' MIDI button to enable MIDI note control of Auto-Tune's. Auto accept controller - Used when linking controller knobs/sliders to FL Studio and plugins. When selected, the MIDI Remote Control pop-up will close as soon as you tweak (move) the control on your external MIDI device and the link will be made.

“Auto-Tune is capable of receiving MIDI input to both facilitate the selection of a scale in the Scale Editor, as well as actually follow the pitch of incoming MIDI notes as a creative Vocoder style effect. To use MIDI with Auto-Tune in Pro Tools, you must create a MIDI control track to feed Auto-Tune sequence data, because audio tracks do not have the capability of importing or recording MIDI. So, in this session I've created a MIDI track, not an instrument track, but a MIDI track called AT Control, Auto-Tune Control. You can name it whatever you like. I have set the output-- This is the critical part. The output has been set to ATEm, so Auto-Tune, EVO, MIDI, R Task 20. The 20 comes from inside the Auto-Tune plug-in here. That's the instance count. So, this is the 20th time I've used the Auto- Tune plug-in since Pro Tools has been opened. Not just in this session, so sometimes this number can seem arbitrary. But if you have lots of Auto-Tune instances that's how you could match up the…Practice while you learn with exercise files
